Sean Dunne

Sean Dunne is an Emmy-nominated documentary and commercial director, who made his featurefilm-directing debut with OXYANA, a portrait of a small coal-mining town caught in the grips of the Oxycontin epidemic. OXYANA premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival where Sean won the award for Best New Documentary Director as well as a Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary Feature.

Sean has also directed numerous short documentaries including: THE ARCHIVE (Sundance World Premiere, 2011 Emmynomination), FLORIDA MAN, and the internet cult-classic AMERICAN JUGGALO. Hailed as the “master of fringe Americana” for his ability to realistically capture half-mythical corners of the country, Sean’s approach to documentary is to give his subjects the ease and opportunity to find their own voice and his viewers the freedom to form their own conclusions. Sean showcases people with rich stories and profound views on the human experience.

As a commercial director, Sean has brought his unique style of visual storytelling and unmatched intimacy to clients that include NIKE, DELTA, AT&T, SHELL, CHASE, BANK OF AMERICA, MICROSOFT, BACARDI, and GOOGLE. In 2016, Sean directed a film about Romanian hackers for NORTON which won Gold at the Cannes Lions.
